My favorite morning ritual to support protein, muscle, gut health, and metabolism in midlife.

If you've been around here for a while, you've probably heard me say that the goal isn't to eat less... it's to fuel better.


That's exactly why I love my Morning Metabolic Mocha.


Instead of thinking about coffee as just coffee, I use it as an opportunity to intentionally fuel my body before the day even begins.


The best part?

It tastes like a rich mocha from your favorite coffee shop—but it's packed with nutrients that support the things many women over 35 struggle with most: maintaining muscle, supporting gut health, improving body composition, and getting enough protein and fiber.


This has become one of my favorite morning rituals, and honestly, I look forward to it every single day.


Why I love this mocha


💪 It helps me reach my protein goals.

One of the biggest nutrition challenges I see in women over 35 is simply not eating enough protein.


Protein is essential for:

  • Maintaining lean muscle

  • Supporting a healthy metabolism

My Metabolic Mocha Recipe ☕


Ingredients

  • 8–10 oz brewed organic coffee

  • ½–1 scoop Chocolate Equip Prime Protein*

  • 1 scoop Designs for Health Whole Body Collagen

  • 1 scoop (5 g) creatine monohydrate

  • 1 scoop Nordic Flora Prebiotic Fiber

  • 2 tbsp organic half-and-half (or 4 tbsp Nutpods for dairy-free)

Instructions

  1. Brew your favorite coffee.

  2. Add all ingredients to the coffee.

  3. Use a handheld milk frother until smooth and creamy.

  4. Pour into your favorite mug (or Yeti 😉) and enjoy!

  • Protein: 36.4 g

  • Carbohydrates: 9.4 g

A few notes...

Most protein powders don't work well in hot coffee. Whey and many plant-based proteins tend to clump or curdle. I've found Equip mixes much better and gives the mocha a rich, creamy texture. However, you MUST use a small milk frother to get this blended in properly. This not only gets it fully incorporated in a snap but it also creates a lovely coffee-house style foam on top. YUMMM

Ideas and alternatives

While chocolate protein is my FAVORITE, I have also use salted caramel, cookies and cream, vanilla and cinnamon bun flavors.


Don't want to change the taste of your coffee? Go with unflavored!


Not a fan of stevia? Equip makes some of their flavors sweetened with coconut sugar and monk fruit. This adds a negligible amount of sugar (about 2-3g per scoop).


Sometimes I use half a scoop of protein and sometimes a whole. This depends on your taste preference.
