Why Now Is Actually the Best Time to Focus on Your Health

Every year around this time, I hear the same thing from women....

“I’ll start after the holidays.” ..... “There’s no point in starting now — I’ll just fall off.” ......“I don’t have time to be healthy right now.”

Sound familiar?

The truth is, that mindset — the “I’ll start when things calm down” mindset — is the very thing that keeps so many women stuck in an endless cycle of starting over.

And the holidays?

They’re actually one of the best times to begin.

The All-or-Nothing Trap

Most women approach health and weight loss with an all-or-nothing mentality. Either they’re “all in” — tracking every bite, hitting every workout, saying no to every treat…Or they’re “all out” — giving up until Monday, or until January 1st.

We call this "the last supper effect."

The “Last Supper Effect” refers to the tendency people have to overeat or overindulge right before starting a new diet, challenge, or healthy eating plan — as if it’s their “last chance” to enjoy certain foods before they’re “off-limits.”

But real, lasting change doesn’t happen in extremes. It happens in the messy middle — when life is full, but you still choose one small thing that moves you forward.

Because when you believe that success only comes from doing everything perfectly, you’ll keep waiting for the “perfect time.” And spoiler: it never comes.

Why Starting Small Now Matters

Here’s the truth — you don’t need more time, or motivation, or a perfect plan to make progress. You just need a starting point.

Even one small consistent habit can build momentum:

  • Drinking more water

  • Getting 10 minutes of movement each day

  • Eating a protein-rich breakfast

  • Taking a deep breath before reacting to stress

When clients tell me they ‘don’t have time’ to focus on their health, I remind them — we don’t need more time, we need simpler tools. That might look like having quick protein options on hand, so meals don’t get skipped or replaced with sugar and caffeine. One of my favorite options is Equip Prime Protein because it’s made from real food ingredients and blends in seconds — no excuses required.

If you haven't heard my gush about my morning Metabolic Mocha yet, here it is. I LOOOOVVVVE this drink and it fuels me in SO many ways and is truly my favorite "no time" hack!

(I’m an Equip affiliate, which means if you use my link or code, I may earn a small commission. I only share products I personally use and recommend to my clients.)

These habits might seem simple, but they’re powerful because they build consistency and confidence (and if there's one thing I hear MOST from women who want to lose weight, it's that they desire MORE confidence. Hint: confidence doesn't come from weight loss; it comes from showing up for yourself and taking meaningful action! You'll learn more about this inside my Metabolic Transformation Method program!)

And when January rolls around, instead of starting over, you’ll already have a foundation in place.

Mindset Is the Real Game-Changer

The holidays aren’t the enemy — your mindset is. When you approach this season with guilt, fear, or perfectionism, you rob yourself of joy and progress.

But when you shift your mindset to focus on balance over burnout, everything changes. You can enjoy the parties, the treats, and the memories — without feeling like you’ve fallen off track.

The goal isn’t to “get through” the holidays. It’s to move through them feeling grounded, confident, and in control.

You Don’t Need to Wait

This is exactly why I’m offering specialized holiday support inside my coaching right now — to help women break free from the all-or-nothing cycle and move through the season with confidence.

Because you don’t have to wait until January to start taking care of yourself. You don’t need to do everything perfectly to make progress. You just need to start — even with one small thing.

Your health journey doesn’t pause for the holidays — it evolves with them.

So this season, instead of waiting for the “right time,” let’s create a version of health that fits your real life — with more peace, presence, and balance.
